Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 5-2 Saturday night in front of 4,080 fans at State Mutual Stadium to give Rome its third straight victory and five wins during the eight game homestand.
The Sand Gnats started early in the game scoring one run in the top of the third inning thanks to a run scoring single by Jefry Marte.
The Braves would come back to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth as Braeden Schlehuber singled to left field and stole second base. A wild pitch and a fielding error with Joel Campusano at bat allowed Schlehuber to cross the plate making it a 1-1 game.
In the fifth inning Rome would score four times highlighted by a run scoring single by Shayne Moody as well as two RBI doubles by Adam Milligan and Schlehuber. Savannah added one run in the top of the ninth when Jose Jimenez hit an RBI single to center scoring Jean Luc Blaquiere but that's as close as they would get. Rome's bullpen would end the threat in the ninth and hold on for the 5-2 victory.
Dimasther Delgado (3-5) gets the win for Rome and Manuel Olivares (2-4) takes the loss for Savannah. Angelo Paulino (1) earns the save.
The Braves head to Hagerstown Monday night to begin an eight game road trip. They return home August 19th to face the Charleston Riverdogs. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
