Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws were stymied all game long by the Lake County Captains pitching and starter TJ House finally got the run support he needed in a 7-1 victory on Saturday night in the final game of a five-game series.

The Captains (23-19) scored early and often on starter Jesus Sanchez (8-6), who struggled for the first time in a long time. This is his first loss in a string of six winning decisions. Sanchez allowed runs in the second through the fifth as he pitched five and allowed six earned on nine hits.

His counterpart, TJ House (4-8), had been lacking in run support all season, evidenced by his poor record but sub-three ERA after his sparkling outing against the BlueClaws. House went six and allowed just one hit, a double, which hit off the glove of centerfielder Donnie Webb after a long run to the wall. His performance was followed by two clean innings by Travis Turek.

The BlueClaws (21-21) ended the day with just two hits and one run, one of the hits and the run came in the ninth off of Anillins Martinez. Rob Roth pitched two scoreless and Jacob Diekman one, whereas Ryan Bergh allowed a run in the ninth.

The BlueClaws struggled mightily during the nine-game homestand as they went just 3-6. The BlueClaws lost four of five to the Captains, a team that had handled well previous to this series.

The BlueClaws will have an off day before embarking on their longest, in miles, road trip of the season. Starting on Monday, the BlueClaws will play four against the Savannah Sand Gnats and then four against the Charleston RiverDogs. On Monday, the BlueClaws will start Matthew Way (0-1) for the second time after an impressive debut, he will be opposed by righty Kyle Allen (7-6)
