Toros Mascot Garners Support
January 26, 2007 - NBA G League (G League)
Austin Spurs News Release
AUSTIN, Tx January 26, 2007-Mascots are uniting nationwide in support of recently suspended Austin Toros mascot Da Bull. Da Bull received a technical foul on Wednesday for hanging on the rim during a premature celebration on the court. Da Bull "lost his head" and his job for the next two home games as a result. Even a national apology on ESPN2's Cold Pizza this morning didn't induce an early reinstatement for the Toros excitable mascot.
Starting this evening, fans can support Da Bull by auditioning and performing during his absence. Mascot applications will be accepted tonight starting at 6:30p.m. inside the Toros arena at the convention center prior to the start of the game. In Da Bull's absence, the San Antonio Spurs Coyote is scheduled to appear next Friday as part of the Spurs affiliate night celebration.
The Toros take on the Arkansas RimRockers tonight at 7:30 at the Austin Convention Center. Pre-game activities start at 6p.m. and include a "Guns and Hoses" basketball game between the City of Austin Fire and Police departments. Youth 14 and under will receive free Toros trading cards courtesy of IHOP, guard B.J. Elder and forward Jamar Smith will be available for a free autograph session after the game.
For Toros season and group ticket information call the Toros office at (512) 236-8333 or visit austintoros.com. Individual game tickets can be purchased by calling 866-443-8849, at any local RunTex, Waterloo Records (6th & Lamar), the University Co-op or by visiting gettix.net.
