The Toronto Marlies posted a record of 1-1-0-0 this past week. On Saturday night, Toronto defeated the St. John's IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, by a score of 6-2 at the Mile One Centre in Newfoundland. Joe Colborne recorded three points while Keith Aucoin contributed a goal and an assist in the win.
Jussi Rynnas stopped 19 of 21 shots to earn his 6th victory of the season. Eric O'Dell scored both goals for the IceCaps. Toronto went 3- for-5 on the powerplay and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
In the second half of back- to-back games against St. John's, the Marlies fell by a score of 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. Paul Ranger and Ryan Hamilton recorded goals for Toronto, while Jussi Rynnas made 31 saves on 34 shots in the loss. Joe Colborne recorded an assist to give him 9 points over his last 5 games. Toronto went 2-for-7 on the powerplay and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
Look Ahead:
Toronto will take to the ice for two games this coming week. On Friday night, the Marlies travel to New York to take on the Binghamton Senators, AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, at 7:05 p.m. Jakob Silfverberg leads the Senators in points with 29 in 34 games. Goaltender Robin Lehner has recorded 14 wins in 21 games while posting a 0.945 save percentage and a 1.90 goals against average. The Marlies were defeated by the Senators earlier this season by a score of 3-2.
Toronto continues their six game road trip on Saturday when they play the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
Gabriel Dumont leads the Bulldogs in points with 22 in 36 games.
Robert Mayer has posted a record of 8-8-3 this season with a goals against average of 2.99 and a 0.898 save percentage. In eight games against Hamilton this season, the Marlies are 5-3-0-0, having outscored the Bulldogs 33-19.
