Worcester, MA- The Worcester Sharks (19-15-1-3, 42pts) earned a point, but fell to the Hershey Bears (20-17-1-1, 42pts) 3-2 in a shootout on Wednesday evening in front of 3,067 fans at the DCU Center.

Rookie Daniil Tarasov scored his first AHL goal with 10.7 seconds remaining in regulation to secure a point for the Sharks. Denny Urban recorded a goal and an assist in the game and also scored the Sharks lone shootout goal in the loss. Alex Stalock was great in net for Worcester, stopping 29 of 31 shots that he faced in the game. Garrett Mitchell and Ryan Potulny scored for Hershey in the shootout to secure the victory for the Bears.

After the Sharks were called for interference, Hershey capitalized on their first power play when Tomas Kundratek found Kane Boyd (7th) backdoor, who tapped it into an empty net, giving Hershey a 1-0 lead. Bears goaltender Philipp Grubauer stopped all 10 shots that he saw in the first period, while Worcester's Alex Stalock turned aside 10 out of the 11 shots that he faced.

The Sharks didn't waste any time getting the equalizer in the second period. Just 15 seconds into the period, Denny Urban (3rd) was found all alone in the attacking zone and released a bomb from the top of the circles that beat Philip Grubauer blocker side, tying the game 1-1. However, Hershey caught a lucky break at 4:47, when T.J. Syner (3rd) stepped out of the box after serving a penalty and went in on a breakaway and beat Alex Stalock, allowing Hershey to regain the lead 2-1. The Sharks were outshot 11-6 in the second period.

After the Sharks applied strong pressure on the Bears for nearly the whole third period and outshot them 11-5, the hard work finally paid off late. Following a strong entry into the zone, Daniil Tarasov (1st) was able fire a centering feed by Denny Urban for his first AHL goal, tying the game with just 10.7 seconds remaining in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

The Hershey Bears brought pressure in the overtime period, but Alex Stalock was up to the task, turning aside the four shots that he faced in overtime, forcing a shootout.

Garrett Mitchell and Ryan Potulny scored in the shootout for Hershey, while Denny Urban was the lone goal scorer in the shootout for Worcester, resulting in a 3-2 win for Hershey.

The Sharks overall record falls to 19-15-1-3 (42pts in 38gp) and 8-6-1-2 at the DCU Center.
