Toronto Hosts Monsters and Moose This Weekend at Ricoh Coliseum

Ryan Hamilton and the Toronto Marlies picked up three out of a possible four points last week (1-0-0-1) and begin their three game week on Wednesday morning against the Crunch. Hamilton notched a pair of goals in both of the Marlies games last week.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies have posted a record of 10-6-1-3 over their past 20 games. They sit just two points out of third place in the North division standings.

- Toronto's penalty killing unit has been solid through the first 74 games this season, ranking first in the AHL with an 87.0% success rate. Toronto has allowed only 11 power play goals over their past 29 games.

- Ben Scrivens has appeared in 12 straight games for the Marlies and has posted a 5-5-2 record with a 1.96 goals against average and 0.934 save percentage during that span. Scrivens ranks third (tie) in the AHL this season in save percentage (0.928) and sixth in goals against average (2.20).

- The Marlies 20 road victories currently rank first in the North Division and fourth (tie) in the AHL. Toronto has only one more road game remaining on their 2010-11 schedule.

- Mike Zigomanis paces the Marlies in scoring this season with 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists).

- Tyler Brenner made his AHL debut last Wednesday night in Grand Rapids and recorded two goals. The 6'2, 200-pound forward was named the game's second star.

- Defenceman Jake Gardiner recorded his first career AHL point (assist) on Wednesday in Grand Rapids.

- Toronto's 209 goals so far this season ranks second in their division and sixth in the Western Conference.

- The Marlies signed Dusty Collins to a PTO contract on Tuesday morning. Collins has skated in 13 AHL games this season, including one with the Marlies on March 13 versus Texas.

Last Week:

The Marlies picked up three out of a possible four points last week, going 1-0- 0-1. Toronto traveled to Grand Rapids on Wednesday night and came out of Van Andel Arena with a 5-1 victory. Ryan Hamilton and Tyler Brenner both scored a pair of goals in the win. Ben Scrivens was the game's first star, making 41 saves on 42 shots. Aaron Voros recorded the game winning goal in the first period on a penalty shot.

Christian Hanson and Fabian Brunnstrom both chipped in with two assist games. On Saturday the Lake Erie Monsters snuck by the Marlies 3-2 in a shootout.

Ryan Hamilton scored both of the Marlies goals, including the game tying marker mid-way through the third period while on a power play. John Grahame came up big for the Monsters, making 37 saves and was the game's second star. Scrivens made 16 saves in a losing effort. Lake Erie improved their record to 5-1-0-0 against Toronto.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies open up their three game week on Wednesday morning with a tilt against the Syracuse Crunch. It will be the Marlies final school day game of the season. Toronto holds a record of 2-1-0-0 against the Crunch this season; however, were shutout, 1-0 against them in their most recent meeting on March 18.

On Saturday the Marlies host the Lake Erie Monsters at Ricoh Coliseum at 5:00 p.m. Toronto has struggled against their division rivals, posting a record of 1-4-0-1 against the Monsters this season. Lake Erie has won eight straight games, with their last loss coming on March 5 against Rockford.

Toronto finishes their week on Sunday against the Manitoba Moose. The game will be broadcast live on the CBC at 1:00 p.m. The Marlies trail the Moose by five points in the North Division standings.

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank first in the Atlantic division with a record of 42-22-2-3. Reading has clinched a playoff spot and first place in the division. The Royals have won back- to-back games and return to action on Wednesday night when they host Wheeling.
