HAMILTON ON - Aaron Palushaj and Nigel Dawes each potted one goal and one assist, while Drew Macintyre made 37 saves to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over the Abbotsford Heat in AHL action on Tuesday night in Southern Ontario.

The win for Hamilton was the first of the season over the Abbotsford Heat, who are now 3-1-0-1 versus the defending North Division Champions this season.

Despite being outshot 14-4 in the opening period, Hamilton struck first on the score sheet as Dawes was able to find a loose puck in front of Heat goaltender JP Lamoureux and lift his league leading 35th goal of the season past the Heat keeper. Dawes' goal would give the Dogs a 1-0 lead after one period.

In the second, Jon Rheault connected on a Heat power play, slamming a rebound past MacIntyre while the Heat were on a five on three. But the Bulldogs would score the go ahead goal just 1:20 later, as Palushaj jumped on a fat rebound and buried his 18th goal of the season past Lamoureux to give the Bulldogs the lead back at 2-1. Palushaj's goal would be the game winner.

Despite extensive Heat pressure, Wyman's empty net goal in the final minute would prove to be the end of the scoring on the night.

With the loss, the Heat fall to seven points back of the Bulldogs, with just eight games left in the regular season. The two teams will rematch on Wednesday night in Hamilton. You can catch the pregame show on Country 107.1 FM at 3:45 PM with Dave Sheldon, and you can listen to all the action of the game with the puck drop from the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton at 4 PM (PDT).
