
Admirals Sign Goaltender Pat Nagle to Amateur Tryout Contract

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have signed goaltender Pat Nagle to an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO), Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today. In addition, the Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Admirals, have reassigned goaltender Jaroslav Janus (YAHR-oh-slahv YAHN-ihs) from the Admirals to the ECHL's Florida Everblades, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Nagle, 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning last week. He played in 37 games with the Ferris State (Mich.) Bulldogs this season, posting an 18-14-5 record with a 2.02 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. He ranked fifth in NCAA Division-1 in GAA, tied for ninth for shutouts with three and tied for 10th in save percentage. Nagle also set school records for GAA and was tied for second in save percentage.
A native of Bloomfield, Michigan, Nagle was named to the All-CCHA First Team this past season and was named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award candidate. He received CCHA Preseason Second-Team honors and was also selected to Inside College Hockey.com's First-Half All-CCHA Team.
Nagle has played in 101 career games with Ferris State from 2007-10. During that time he recorded a 2.32 GAA and a .916 save percentage with a 45-42-11 record with five shutouts. Nagle has improved his GAA in each of the previous three seasons, going from 2.84 in 2008-09 to 2.02 in 2010-11.
Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Nagle played under Admirals Head Coach Jon Cooper with the St. Louis Bandits of the NAHL.
Janus, 6-foot-1, 189-pounds, has appeared in four games with the Admirals this season, going 0-2-1 with a 4.97 goals-against average and .819 save percentage. He has posted a 12-13-0-0 record in 27 games with the Everblades this season with a 3.06 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. The Everblades have clinched a spot in the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Janus, a 21-year-old native of Presov, Slovakia, appeared in 13 games for the Admirals last season, posting a 7-6-0 record with one shutout, a 2.07 GAA and .922 save percentage. He led Norfolk in goals-against average and save percentage in his first season of professional hockey.
Janus played in 110 career OHL games with the Erie Otters, posting a 45-53-7 record with a 3.69 GAA. At the 2009 World Junior Championships with Team Slovakia, Janus posted a 3-4-0 record with a 3.20 GAA and a .932 save percentage in seven games. He was named the tournament's top goaltender by attending media. Tampa Bay drafted Janus in the sixth round (162nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
