Plante, Wilson Get the Call from the Big Club

(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled D Clay Wilson and G Tyler Plante from the Rochester Americans (AHL). In a related move, the Amerks have also signed G Alex Petizian to a Professional Tryout agreement.

Wilson, 27, has appeared in nine games with Florida this season, registering three points, including two goals and one assist, and a plus-4 rating. For his career in the NHL, he has played in 25 games, with Columbus (2007-09), Atlanta (2008-09) and Florida (2009-11), recording six points (3-3-6) and four PIM. Wilson has also played in 65 games with Rochester this year, registering 46 points (10-36-46) and 24 PIM.

The Sturgeon Lake, Minn. native signed with the Panthers as a free agent on July 2, 2009.

Plante, 23, earns his second recall this season, but has yet to appear in a regular season game with the Panthers. In 34 games with Rochester this season, Plante has posted a 13-16-2 record with a 3.06 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. Plante was also recognized earlier this season as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb 27.

The Milwaukee, Wisc. native was selected by Florida with their second-round choice (32nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Panthers play their fifth and final game of a five-game road trip tonight in Columbus when they play the Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen live on FOX Sports Florida and heard on 560 WQAM.

Petizian (peh-TEEZ-ee-uhn), currently in his first professional season, joins the Amerks on PTO to replenish Rochester's goaltending tandem with the departure of Plante to South Florida. Petizian returns for his second stint with the Amerks. The 23-year-old made his professional debut last season with Rochester, finishing with 26 saves in a 5-2 loss to the Syracuse Crunch on April 10th. He began the 2010-11 campaign with the Portland Pirates, going 0-1-0 with a 4.88 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage. He also dressed for one game this season with the ECHL's Ontario Reign.

Prior to turning pro, Petizian played four seasons at St. Lawrence University, where he posted a 45-29-10 record with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in 86 career games for the Saints. In 2008-09, the Kirkland, Quebec, native had an outstanding junior campaign for the Saints and his 2.18 goals against average was third in program history. Petizian started 31 games for the Saints that year and went 17-9-5, establishing a career high with 40 saves. A four-time ECAC Goalie of the Week honoree, Petizian took over the starting goaltending job his freshman season, playing 22 straight games en route to earning Hockey All Rookie Goalie honors and Freshman All American Honors. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound netminder was also a Second Team All League goaltender and was the goalie on the USCHO All Rookie team.

Petizian and the rest of the Amerks kickoff a two-game road set with the Manitoba Moose tonight at the MTS Centre in downtown Winnipeg. The North Division rivals will meet again the following night on Wednesday, March 30thin the second of back-to-back tilts. Both contests are slated for an 8:30 p.m. EST start and will be carried live on Sports Radio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
