Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies defeated the Chicago Wolves, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, by a score of 4-2 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
Marlies forward Mike Zigomanis opened the scoring on a powerplay at 16:27 of the first period. Joe Colborne gave Toronto a 2-0 lead on another powerplay at 4:28 of the middle frame. Chicago cut the lead in half under one minute later on Bill Sweatt's 9th goal of the season. Jesse Blacker scored his second goal in as many games at 14:17 of the middle period, restoring Toronto's two goal lead. Andrew Gordon would notch his 13th tally of the year at 5:13 of the final frame. Toronto withstood late pressure from the Wolves and Carter Ashton scored into an empty net to secure the win for the Marlies.
