Milwaukee, WI - The Houston Aeros (23-18-4-3, 53 points) defeated the Milwaukee Admirals (19-19-3-3, 44 points) 5-2 on Friday night in front of 4,894 fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Justin Fontaine and Carson McMillan led a balanced scoring attack to help Houston push past Milwaukee. Fontaine scored twice and added an assist, as the Aeros improved to 10-10-2-1 on the road this season. McMillan scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist for his second multi-point game of the season. Rookie Jason Zucker and defenseman Kyle Medvec scored less than two minutes apart, opening up a two-goal lead early in the third period. Aeros goalie Matt Hackett (14-16-3) made 28 saves for his first win since Jan. 1 (ending a seven-game streak 0-7-0). Hackett also snapped a personal eight-game road winless skid (0-7-1) with the win - his first since Dec. 7 at Texas. Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith (15-16-3) suffered the loss, stopping 30 of 34 Houston shots. Houston will play in Rockford at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Milwaukee opened the scoring at 8:42 of the first period, with Cam Reid's second goal of the season. Taylor Beck set up the play from behind the Houston net, finding Reid out front. Reid snapped a wrist shot past Matt Hackett for the 1-0 Milwaukee lead. Houston answered back less than three minutes later at 11:09. Right wing Justin Fontaine picked off an errant pass in the Milwaukee zone and rifled a shot past goalie Jeremy Smith for his tenth goal of the season and a 1-1 score. The Aeros moved in front at 14:49 of the first period off a shorthanded goal by Carson McMillan. Forward Jake Dowell set up the play, springing McMillan close to the Milwaukee net. McMillan then flipped a backhand shot under the cross bar for his third goal of the season and a 2-1 Houston lead.

Houston outshot Milwaukee 14-4 in the second period of play, expanding the lead to 3-1 late in the period. Rookie Jason Zucker ripped a shot past Smith at 18:46 of the second frame. Forwards Zack Phillips and Johan Larsson each had an assist on Zucker's team-leading 19th goal of the season.

Defenseman Kyle Medvec scored 36 seconds into the third period, blasting a shot past Smith. Medvec's fourth goal of the season was set up by Fontaine for the 4-1 lead. Milwaukee connected for a power-play goal at 3:19 of the third period, cutting the Houston lead in half at 4-2. Austin Watson scored his 16th goal of the season from Beck and defenseman Victor Bartley. Houston closed out the scoring with 1:08 remaining in regulation, as Fontaine scored an empty-net goal. McMillan had the lone assists on Fontaine's 11th goal of the season.

Houston continues on an eight-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 9 in Rockford at 7 p.m. CT. The Aeros return home on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:05 p.m. as Houston hosts Oklahoma City at Toyota Center. The team will celebrate Boy Scout Night by handing out Team Posters to the first 2,000 fans will receive a 2012-13 Houston Aeros team poster.
