SJ Sharks Reassign Defenseman Matt Irwin to Worcester

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Matt Irwin to the Worcester Sharks, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

Irwin has posted two points (one goal, one assist) in nine games with the Sharks this season. He scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 26 vs. Colorado.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia was signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 23, 2010.

Sharks defeseman Brent Burns has also been activated from injured reserve. Burns has not played in a game this season for the Sharks.
