
Toronto Holds off Wolves, 4-2

TORONTO, Ontario---One day after shutting out the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Chicago Wolves were tripped up by the Toronto Marlies, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
Left wing Bill Sweatt and forward Andrew Gordon scored the goals for the Wolves. Captain Darren Haydar pocketed two assists.
Matt Climie (11-12-1) was back between the pipes for Chicago (23-16-3-2) after a 23-save shutout on Friday night in Hamilton. He stopped 21 of 24 Toronto shots.
After getting off to a quick start Friday versus the Bulldogs, things were at a decidedly slower pace early in Toronto. It wasn't until the end of the first period that Marlies center Mike Zigomanis potted the first score, a power-play marker that beat Climie top-shelf at 16:27.
Leading 1-0 after 20 minutes, the Marlies (25-15-2-2) went back on the power play early in the second period and capitalized again. This time center Joe Colborne stuffed a loose puck into Climie's net at 4:28.
It didn't take long for the Wolves to respond. Haydar fed Sweatt down low so Sweatt could slap a wrister past Marlies goalie Jussi Rynnas at 5:14 of the second.
Still holding a 2-1 advantage, Toronto extended it midway through the second with a Jesse Blacker tip-in at 14:17.
Entering the final frame in a two-goal hole, the Wolves found a spark quickly in the form of another Haydar setup. He fed forward Andrew Gordon, who beat Rynnas stick-side 5:13 into the period.
Despite the surge in play, the Wolves couldn't close the gap all the way. Marlies right wing Carter Ashton sealed the deal for Toronto with an empty-net marker at 18:55. Rynnas (8-7-1) made 24 saves to earn the win.
