Akron's Ka'ai Tom enjoyed a career-night with an impressive 5-5 performance at the plate, including a pair of home runs and four RBI, as the RubberDucks routed the Hartford Yard Goats, 15-3, Friday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn.

Turning Point

The RubberDucks (23-18) took a 3-0 lead when Tom launched a two-run homer to right field in the second inning off Hartford starter Parker French (1-4). It was the first of Tom's five hits on the night and his fourth homer of the season. He drove in Todd Hankins, who had doubled with one out.

Mound Presence

Akron starter Jake Paulson (3-1) worked 5.2 innings to earn his third win since joining the RubberDucks from Single-A Lynchburg. Paulson allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits. He walked two and struck out four. It was the second time in Paulson's four starts that the Ducks have scored 15 runs.

Duck Tales

Tom added an RBI single during Akron's four-run fourth inning when they extended the lead to 7-2. He singled and scored again in the sixth, and in the seventh, he ripped a base hit to left to go 4-4. His spot came up again leading off the ninth against Hartford right-hander Jason Garcia. After working a full count, Tom belted an opposite-field home run to left to complete a perfect, 5-5 night. He finished with four RBI and four runs scored. He raised his batting average 37 points to .227.

Akron's Andrew Calica led off the game with a solo homer off French, his first Double-A homer...Calica finished the game 4-6, with a pair of RBI...Bobby Bradley was 3-5, with a two doubles and three RBI...Hankins launched a long homer to left field in the seventh, his first...The Ducks pounded out a season-high 21 hits off four Hartford pitchers...It was the third time this season that the RubberDucks scored 15 or more runs...It was the first win ever for the RubberDucks at Dunkin' Donuts Park (1-4)...Time of game: 3:03... Attendance: 6,850.
