Toledo Drops a Tough One 3-2 in Chicago

(Chicago, IL)- Todd Griffith had a goal and an assist but the Walleye lost 3-2 to Chicago tonight. Toledo is 24-28-2-2 on the season and 11-14-2-0 away from home.

In the first period, Toledo would collect a 1-0 when Todd Griffith scored a power play goal at 17:24. Harrison Reed collected the lone assist on Griffith's 13th goal of the season. Toledo outshot the Express 13-10 in the first period.

"I love the way we started tonight," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We played physical and had great puck possession which is a must to beat this team. We did everything right and deserved a better fate."

Toledo would collect the lone goal of the second period when David Gilbert beat Chicago goaltender Peter Mannino on a breakaway at 5:20. Todd Griffith collected a steal at center ice and fed Gilbert for his 6th goal of the season.

The Express would score three third period goals, including two from forward Maxime Gratchev. Toledo outshot Chicago 36-26 for the game. Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Alec Richards finished with 23 saves and has a record of 5-4-0-0 on the season.

Toledo is 6-4-0-0 against Chicago. Todd Griffith has four goals and two assists in his last four games. The Toledo Walleye will return home for games on Friday March 2nd against Wheeling and Sunday March 4th against Cincinnati.
