Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans played three of their four games this week away from Sovereign Bank Arena while also starting a season-high five-game road trip on Friday.

Trenton started off the week on Tuesday with another road game against the Royals. Doug Christiansen broke a scoreless tie in the second period with a power play goal at 4:37 to make 1-0 Reading after two. The Royals extended their cushion to three goals when Eric Werner and Malcom MacMillan scored forty-six seconds apart with time dwindling down in the third period. Chris Pittman picked up the loan goal for the Titans in the loss.

In their only home game of the week, the Titans could not find an answer to Wheeling netminder Andy Franck in a 4-1 loss. The Nailers took a 1-0 lead 2:27 into the game on a power play goal by Brendon Hodge before Mike Doyle pushed his team's lead to two later in the period. Sean Collins added another Wheeling goal at 1:11 of the second period to make it 3-0. Chris Pittman tallied a late goal to end a 179:50 scoreless drought versus the Nailers. Franck finished with 36 saves on the evening.

On the back end of their home-and-home series versus the Nailers, the Titans again found themselves down 2-0 after one period at WesBanco Arena after two goals by Jordan Cameron. Trenton would battle back on this night as Jason Norrie and Scott Selig lit the lamp in the middle frame to tie the game. From there, Scott Bertoli picked up two power play goals to lead the Titans to a 5-3 win.

Again the Titans dug themselves an early hole as three Chiefs playes put the puck into the net to stake a 3-0 lead after the one period of play. As they did the night before, Trenton started a comeback as Jim Henkel and Scott Bertoli cut Johnstown's lead to one goal going into the final period. Chris Pittman tied the game for the Titans with his sixteenth goal of the season at 4:58 of the third. The two teams seemed headed for overtime, but Randy Rowe tipped home the game-winner with just three seconds left in regulation to send Trenton away with a 4-3 loss.

The Titans continue their stretch of five-consecutive road games with a two-game set against the Storm on Wednesday, March 1 and Friday, March 3 at Toledo Sports Arena. Trenton completes its road trip on Saturday, March 4 versus the Reading Royals.
