Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings announced today a trade with the Florida Everblades for Greg Black. The Salmon Kings traded financial considerations for the 23-year-old Forward.

From 1998-2003, Black amassed 143 points and 700 penalty minutes in 258 career Western Hockey League games with the Seattle Thunderbirds. He turned pro with the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League and collected nine points (4g, 5a) in 39 games, and played 15 games with the Peoria Riverman, earning seven points (5g, 2a).

The native of Kamloops, BC missed all of the 2004-05 season with an injury, but returned to pro hockey with the Everblades and has scored one goal in eight games.

"Greg had a strong junior career and a solid rookie year as a pro. We welcome him to the line up to help develop his skills as a member of the Salmon Kings and prepare him for more time in the AHL," said Dan Belisle, Salmon Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.

The Victoria Salmon Kings hope to add Black to the line up for the three-game series versus the Bakersfield Condors this weekend.
