BURLINGTON, Iowa - The TinCaps squandered an early lead but found a way to pick up a 7-5 victory over the Burlington Bees, Friday at Community Field. Rico Noel smacked a go-ahead tworun double in the ninth.

RHP Zach Cates delivered six shutout innings, allowing five hits and a walk with four strikeouts but took a no-decision.

The TinCaps jumped out to an early lead against Burlington RHP Sean Murphy. In the first, Luis Domoromo slapped a two-out double into the left-field corner to score Rymer Liriano with the game's first run. Connor Powers followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. An inning later, Cole Tyrell and Oscar Garcia roped back-to-back doubles to start the inning. Noel singled to right to give Fort Wayne a 4-0 lead. He stole second and third, then scored on Liriano's double to make it 5-0.

Murphy settled down from there and didn't allow a hit after the second. After Cates exited the game, pitchers for both teams had trouble finding the strike zone. Burlington plated three runs in the seventh thanks in large part to four walks and a hit batsman; A.J. Kirby- Jones drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 5-3.

In the eighth, Tyreace House lined a double to right-center to put runners at second and third with two outs. RHP Chris Franklin entered from the bullpen and gave up a two-run triple to Royce Consigli to tie the game, but Consigli was thrown out at the plate when the relay throw was mishandled. In the ninth, Fort Wayne received three straight walks from Bees RHP Daniel Tenholder, then Noel bounced a two-run double down the left-field line to but the TinCaps ahead for good, 7-5.

Franklin (1-1) was credited with the win. Tenholder (3-2), who had only walked six batters all season entering the game, took the loss.

The TinCaps upped their record to 9-12 in the half, 39-51 for the season. Burlington fell to 7-14 since the all-star break, 52-39 for the year.

The TinCaps continue their road trip on Saturday against the Peoria Chiefs (Class-A Chicago Cubs) at 7:30 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Dennis O'Grady (1-0) gets the starting nod against Chiefs LHP Eric Jokisch (7-2).
