Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce three roster moves today. OF Travis Witherspoon has been activated from the 7-day disabled list, INF Jarrod Parks joins the Kernels from Inland Empire and OF Chris Giovinazzo has been assigned to the AZL Angels. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Friday.

Witherspoon went on the DL on June 27 with a left oblique strain. He is hitting .232 with six HR and 29 RBI and leads the Kernels with 31 stolen bases in 37 attempts.

Giovinazzo played 16 games for the Kernels, all in center field. The 39th round selection out of UCLA hit .167 (11-66) with three RBI.

The Angels selected Parks in the 24th round of the 2011 First Year Player draft out of Mississippi State. He played seven games at Inland Empire, batting .333 (6-18) with a double and RBI and also played 12 games with the Orem Owlz, batting .419 with 3 HR and 9 RBI.

Parks will arrive in Cedar Rapids today and be available for tonight's 6:35 pm game with the Bowling Green Hot Rods. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with one player currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a six game home stand tonight against Bowling Green at 6:35 pm. It's 70's Decade Night, Pat McGrath Used Car Night and 98.1 KHAK Two for One Beer Friday. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
