Silver Hawks Too Much For Snappers

BELOIT, WI - The Silver Hawks scored in every inning but three as they took the series finale from the Snappers 10-2 on a Friday night Fireworks night at Pohlman Field. In front of a crowd of 1,668, the Snappers only managed to score in the sixth inning, but still won the series from South Bend, taking two games out of three.

The scoring started for South Bend (7-13) in the second inning when designated hitter Matt Helm hit a solo home run off Beloit starter Ryan O'Rourke. Ryan would only last four innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits. His ERA is still at a very respectable 2.30. He struggled with command as he walked five and only struck out four.

The Snappers pitching staff would allow 12 hits tonight including three to Nike Gallego, who finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Second basemen, Gerson Montilla added a home run to their totals as added a solo shot in the sixth inning. Starter Jeff Shields held the Snappers to two earned runs on nine hits to pick up his fifth win of the year (5-9, 4.84 ERA). The Silver Hawk bullpen would combine for three innings, not allowing a hit to lock-up the win.

For the Snappers (12-9), Lance Ray led the offense with two hits (2-for-4) with a home run in the sixth inning, a double and two RBI. He now has nine home runs and 22 doubles to go with his .259 average. Daniel Ortiz and Daniel Santana also collected two hits tonight.

The West Michigan White Caps will come in to town tomorrow after playing the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Appleton, WI. They come in with a 11-9 record, 2.5 games out of first place. Manuel Soliman (4-5, 3.95 ERA) takes the bump for the Snappers against West Michigan's Josue Carreno (4-9, 5.53 ERA). It will be another Woodman's Mac N Cheese Saturday where fans can bring a box of Mac N Cheese to the ballpark for $1 off a regular priced admission ticket.

After the game will be yet another fireworks show sponsored by McDonald's of Beloit and the fireworks will be fire off thanks to Melrose Pyrotechnics. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
