ABOUT LAST GAME: Ruddy Giron went 6-for-6 Monday in a 9-2 TinCaps win against the Lake County Captains. Giron became only the second player in Fort Wayne franchise history to record six hits in a game, and the first to do so in 22 years.

HISTORY: Fort Wayne hadn't had a player record six hits in a game since the franchise's inaugural season in 1993. Rene Lopez, a catcher, went 6-for-6 against the Beloit Brewers (now the Snappers) at the now-defunct Memorial Stadium in Fort Wayne on May 29.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? In no particular order, here are a list of factors that made Giron's accomplishment on Monday something no one could have seen coming...

- Giron was making his TinCaps debut after being called up from Extended Spring Training earlier in the day

- He had to wake up at 3:00 am MST in Peoria, AZ, before flying from Phoenix to Chicago to Cleveland, and then getting a ride to Classic Park from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

- In 2014, Giron hit .168 in 48 games with the Peoria Padres in the rookie-level Arizona League

- Giron never had more than a two-hit game as a rookie last year

- At 18, Giron is the youngest player in the entire Midwest League; he was born on Jan. 4, 1997

- Giron's teammates tallied 10 other hits and drew four walks, enabling Giron to have six at-bats; Fort Wayne had been no-hit for seven innings on Sunday at Bowling Green

- The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder had never before hit a home run as a professional
