Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, WI - Joey Wagman gets the win for the Snappers after joining the team earlier today as they won on a walk off run caused by a passed ball by Kane County in the tenth inning.

Tonight's game at Pohlman Field in Beloit was definitely a pitcher's duel as neither team scored until the sixth inning. Kevin Johnson, Beloit's starter, pitched five innings while allowing four hits, no runs, and striking out two Cougars.

Kane County got on the board first in the sixth when Marty Herum hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Colin Bray. The Snappers answered right back in the bottom of the sixth when Robert Martinez also hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Yairo Munoz and tie it up at 1-1.

Relief pitching was also key tonight as three Cougars' relieving pitchers allowed no hits. Cody Stull allowed the only run for Beloit.

Both sides weren't letting up and needed one more inning to decide the outcome of the game. In the 10th inning, Jose Brizuela comes in to pinch hit for Edwin Diaz and ended up getting walked by Kane County's Steve Hathaway. A sacrifice bunt by James Harris moved Brizuela to second base before a ground out to the short stop by Trent Gilbert moved Brizuela to third base.

With Yairo Munoz batting, a wild pitch by Cody Geyer allowed Brizuela to score the game winning run and make the final score 2-1.

The Snappers are 16-23 on the season. They play the Kane County Cougars again tomorrow night at Pohlman Field in Beloit at 6:30 PM. To buy tickets, stop by the office or call (608) 362-2272.
