Dayton, Ohio-Jose Ortiz was 2 for 3 with a home run and five runs batted in as the Dayton Dragons defeated the Great Lakes Loons 10-5 on Tuesday night. A crowd of 8,579 attended the game at Fifth Third Field.

Great Lakes scored a single run in the top of the first inning before the Dragons ran off a string of eight straight unanswered runs over the next five innings. The Dragons scored three in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Ronald Bueno tripled to right-center field to start the inning and scored on Luis Gonzalez's double to tie the score at 1-1. Brian O'Grady then reached on an infield hit. Gonzalez eventually scored on Paul Kronenfeld's ground out and O'Grady came in on Ortiz's deep sacrifice fly to right to make it 3-1.

Ortiz delivered a three-run home run to left field in the third that provided the Dragons with some breathing room and a 6-1 lead. The Dragons added two more in the fifth as Kronenfeld doubled and scored on Ortiz's single. A two-out single by Narciso Crook brought in Ortiz to make it 8-1.

Both teams scored two runs in the seventh and the Loons closed out the scoring with two in the ninth.

Ortiz's five RBI were the most for a Dragons player since Seth Mejias-Brean drove in six in a game in 2013. The 10-run night marked the Dragons season high for runs in a game in 2015.

Dragons starting pitcher Wyatt Strahan (4-2) earned the win. He worked six innings, allowing four hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Dragons collected 13 hits as all nine players in the batting order had at least one. Ortiz, Crook, Kronenfeld, and Jimmy Pickens each had two hits.
