South Bend, IN - The Fort Wayne TinCaps scored first and last in Monday's game against the South Bend Silver Hawks, but South Bend owned the middle innings on its way to a 5-4 victory at Coveleski Stadium. Allan Dykstra blasted a long home run in the top of the 9th to pull the TinCaps to within a run, but Fort Wayne could not complete the comeback.

In the top of the 2nd, Jaff Decker drilled a leadoff single up the middle. After a walk to Cole Figueroa, Dykstra smoked an RBI single to right to give Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead.

The lead was short-lived as South Bend plated three runs in the bottom of the 2nd. A.J. Pollock delivered a three-run triple to the gap in right-center against RHP Erik Davis to give South Bend a 3-1 advantage.

Bluffton native Justin Parker blasted a solo home run in the 3rd for South Bend, putting his team ahead 4-1.

The Silver Hawks expanded the lead again in the 7th on an RBI single by Rossmel Perez off RHP Eduardo Perez.

The TinCaps scored a run in the 8th on Blake Tekotte's RBI fielder's choice. In the 9th, Daniel Robertson drew a leadoff walk. With two out and the TinCaps down to their final strike, Dykstra launched a 2-2 pitch over both sets of walls for a two-run moonshot. Still up a run, South Bend RHP Justin Mace induced the final out of the game to preserve the Silver Hawks' win.

Fort Wayne lost three of four in the series to South Bend, but dominated the season series, winning 16 of 20.

RHP Ryan Cook (9-9) evened his record for South Bend; he had been 0-4 in four starts against the TinCaps. Davis (11-6) took the loss. Mace notched his eighth save of the year.

Fort Wayne fell to 77-37, 32-12 in the second half. The Silver Hawks upped their record to 48-53, 21-22 in the half.
