The Beloit Snappers took the final game in a five game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 7-5, on Monday afternoon at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Beloit took a 2-0 lead on a 2 run homer by Ramon Santana in the first inning and scored four in the sixth after the Kernels cut the lead to 3-1 on a solo home run by Adam Younger.

Kernels starter Matt Shoemaker (3-1) took his first loss of the year, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and striking out three over six innings. Gabe Jacobo went 2-4 with a double and run scored as Angel Castillo hit a three run HR in the fifth inning and Matt Crawford had an RBI single in the eighth to make the final 7-5 Beloit.

Beloit starter Bobby Lanigan (10-7) picked up his 10th win, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out seven over 5.2 innings. Billy Bullock earned his fourth save, with 1.1 innings of relief. Angel Morales went 4-5 with a double and RBI and James Beresford was 1-4 with 3 RBI.

The Kernels home stand continues on Tuesday, August 11th as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the MWL affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers come to town for a four game set.
