Peoria Chiefs News Release

The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that Cubs left-handed starter Ted Lilly will be rehabbing with the Chiefs Wednesday night at 7:00 at O'Brien Field. Lilly, a 2009 National League All-Star, is scheduled to start for the Chiefs and pitch three-to-four innings. This season, the southpaw is 9-7 with a 3.95 ERA in 19 starts for Chicago. He has struck out 107 while walking just 26 in 123 innings while holding opponents to a .249 average en route to his second career All-Star selection. Lilly was placed on the 15-day DL on July 26 with left shoulder inflammation and also underwent knee surgery during his time on the disabled list. His last start was his shortest outing of the year as he gave up nine runs, seven earned, on eight hits in four innings in a 10-1 loss at Philadelphia on July 20. If all goes well with his rehab start in Peoria, the Cubs are hopeful Lilly can return to the Chicago rotation on Monday, August 17 at San Diego.
