March 13, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL) - Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Tim Branham has been returned to the Royals from the Worcester Sharks of the AHL. In a separate transaction, the Royals sent the rights to defenseman Steve Ward to the Phoenix Roadrunners in completion of the future considerations component of the trade that brought Chris Stevens, Peder Skinner and Brett Thurston to the Royals for defenseman Kevin Schaeffer (and futures) on December 4, 2008.

Branham, who leads Reading defenders with twenty-six points (2g-24a) in forty-seven total games (thirty-four with the Royals), was loaned to Worcester on Wednesday and played one game with the Sharks and did not register a point. Ward, who is currently playing with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, scored six goals and assisted on nineteen others (twenty-five points) in thirty-nine games with the Royals.

The Royals return to action tonight (Friday, March 13 @ 7:30 pm) when the team travels to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey to take on the Trenton Devils. Friday's game will be broadcast live on the Royals Radio Network Presented by Transmissions by Arbogast (True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading; and The Ticket WLAN 1390 am in Lancaster), as well as on the internet via webcast hosted by Sportsjuice.com, which can be accessed through the Royals website.
