Tigers Prospects to Compete in U16 Challenge Cup

Medicine Hat, AB- The Medicine Hat Tigers have four prospects that will play for their respective provinces at the 2015 U16 Challenge Cup in Calgary from October 28th to November 1st.

Forward and 2015 1st Round Bantam Draft Pick Ryan Chyzowski will suit up for Team BC.

Defenseman Cole Clayton (3rd round, 2015) will play for Team Alberta.

Defenseman Layne Matechuk (2nd round, 2015) will play for Team Saskatchewan.

Goaltender Duncan McGovern (5th round, 2015) will play for Team Manitoba.

About the U16 Challenge Cup: The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup will feature the highest rated players in the Under 16 age category representing the four Western Provinces of Alberta, BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The four team round robin tournament format, which will open Wednesday, October 28 and conclude on Sunday, November 1, 2015, is the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence. In addition, the event assists the four Western Provincial Hockey Associations in evaluating top prospects in this age group for future high performance programs. The Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup is made possible through financial support provided by the WHL and Hockey Canada. The majority of the players participating in the event were selected in the WHL Bantam Draft in May (2015), and many of these top young prospects will play major roles on WHL Clubs in the seasons ahead.
