Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - The National Hockey League's Washington Capitals have announced the signing of 20-year old Brandon center Tim McGauley to a three-year entry level contract.

McGauley, who is currently on the sidelines after being hurt in the Wheat Kings' season opener ten days ago, is the reigning Western Hockey League Eastern Conference Player of the Year after scoring 42 goals and 105 points during the 2014-15 campaign.

Chosen to the Eastern Conference First All Star Team last season, McGauley enjoyed a career high 24-game point scoring streak from January 16-March 13th, 2015, scoring seventeen goals and 53 points in the process.

Named winner of the Meighen Haddad Wheat Kings' Most Valuable Player in 2014-15, McGauley is currently in his fourth and final season with Brandon.

In 226 career WHL games, the former first round bantam draft pick of the Saskatoon Blades has scored 81 goals and 211 points.

McGauley attended the Capitals September Training Camp as an undrafted free agent.

His Brandon teammates meanwhile will take the ice Tuesday night when they kick off a 4-game home stand against the visiting Vancouver Giants. Tickets to the game, which will be the Wheat Kings first "2 for Tuesday" of the season, are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at keystonecentre.com or by calling 726-3555.
