Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Calgary, AB. - Hockey Canada, in association with the Western Hockey League have announced the rosters for the teams competing in the 2015 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup and the Brandon Wheat Kings will be well represented.
Among the players chosen Monday were Brandon's top three picks in last spring's WHL Bantam Draft in Calgary.
While forwards Caiden Daley and Rylan Bettens were named to Team Manitoba, blueliner Sean Comrie was selected to the Alberta squad.
Brandon's first selection (22nd overall) in this year's bantam draft, the 6' 155 lb Daley is currently skating with the Winnipeg AAA Midget Wild, after scoring 23 goals and 61 points with the AAA Bantam Warriors in 2014-15.
A linemate of Daley last season, Bettens, who was the Wheat Kings' third round pick (51st overall), is coming off a season that saw him score 56 points, including 25 goals. The 5'11" 160 lb Bettens is also a member of the Wild this season.
Comrie meanwhile was a second round pick (44th overall) last spring and is currently playing for the CAC AAA Midget Canadians in Edmonton. As a member of CAC's bantam program last season, the 5'11" 160 lb. Comrie scored eleven goals and 22 points.
The Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup will be held October 27th to November 1st in Calgary.
