Raiders' Reid Gardiner Named WHL Player of the Week

Prince Albert, SK - The Western Hockey League announced on Monday that Prince Albert Raiders' forward Reid Gardiner has been named the WHL Player of the Week.

Gardiner, a product of Humboldt, SK collected three goals and two assists for five points in two games for the Raiders. On Friday night against the Vancouver Giants, Gardiner recorded two points (1g-1a) and scored the only goal of the shootout in a 5-4 victory. The next night, the crafty right winger compiled three points (2g-1a) including the game-winning goal, just 18 seconds into overtime, for a 5-4 win against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

In four games this season for the Raiders, Gardiner has four goals and four assists for eight points. He is tied with Simon Stransky for the team-lead in points and is sixth in the WHL.

The Prince Albert Raiders conclude their four-game home stand on Tuesday, October 6 when they take on the Kootenay Ice. Game time is 7:00 PM. The Raiders embark on their US Division road trip on Wednesday as they get set to play six games in eight nights, starting on Saturday, October 10 versus the Seattle Thunderbirds.
