Tides Beat Bulls 13-12

NORFOLK, VA - Bulls third baseman Curtis Mead recorded three RBI and center fielder Kameron Misner and designated hitter Niko Hulsizer each mashed a 2-run homer, while Tides 1B Coby Mayo mashed two homers for a total of four runs and 3B Josh Lester smashed a 2-run homer in Norfolk's 13-12 victory over Durham on Saturday night at Harbor Park.

The Bulls struck first with a single tally in the opening frame before a seven-run second inning. Misner mashed a 2-run homer followed by Mead's RBI double and 1B Austin Shenton's 2-run double. Hulsizer's 2-run homer extended the Bulls lead to 8-0.

RF Ruben Cardenas knocked a 2-run single in the following before Mead recorded his third RBI in as many at-bats. The Tides put up six tallies in the fifth frame, including a 3-run homer by Mayo and a 2-run homer from Lester.

Tides reliever Wandisson Charles earned the victory (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 SO), while Javy Guerra (0.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO) suffered the defeat.

The two teams are set to continue their six-game set on Sunday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Taj Bradley is anticipated to get the nod for Durham, and be opposed by RHP Chayce McDermott.

The Bulls return home to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday, August 29 to begin a six-game homestand with the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is set for 6:35pm.
