Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA - Altoona's bats were stymied by Trenton starter Chase Wright and two relievers, as the Curve dropped their second straight contest and their fifth in the last six games by the score of 5-2 Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark.

Curve batters managed only four hits and were struck out 11 times by Wright, Steve Jackson and Bo Hall in the loss. Wright (1-1), who pitched in three games for the New York Yankees in 2007, allowed only one run on a second-inning solo homer by Jason Bowers, and three hits overall in notching his first win of the season. Jackson punched out seven Curve hitters over three perfect innings, while Hall closed out the game in the ninth, despite allowing a solo longball to Jonel Pacheco, his second of the season.

Altoona left-hander Kyle Bloom started the game and was done in by a four-run second inning by the Thunder. As eight men came to the plate in that frame, Bloom surrendered two consecutive walks to lead off the stanza. Marcos Vechionacci doubled home a run, before Reegie Corona followed up with a two-run double as well. Jose Tabata's fielder's choice capped off the scoring to put Trenton up 4-0.

After Bowers' homer in the second, Trenton added another run in the top of the fifth, chasing Bloom (0-2) from the game. Colin Curtis' RBI single scored Austin Jackson to extend the Thunder lead to 5-1.

The Curve (1-5) will try to salvage the final game of the series Wednesday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. Derek Hankins (0-0, 1.50) will toe the rubber for the Curve, while George Kontos (0-1, 3.00) will be on the hill for Trenton (4-2).

20 lucky fans and one guest will have the opportunity to win a trip to Myrtle Beach April 23-26 in a drawing at Wednesday's game. Great seats are still available and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, by logging on to AltoonaCurve.com or by stopping by the Blair County Ballpark box office.
