About Last Night...After scoring 23 runs in three games against Harrisburg pitching, the Aeros offense found out the hard way that it won't always be that easy in last night's 1-0 loss to Binghamton. Mets starter Jake Ruckle combined with a pair of relievers on the four-hit shutout, as all of Akron's hits were singles and the club managed to get only three runners into scoring position on the night. DH Matt Whitney accounted for half the offense with knocks in the first and sixth innings, and LF Nathan Panther also reached twice on a single and a walk. 1B Michael Aubrey finished 1-4 and now has at least one hit in all four games this season.

Easy Edell...Unfortunately for the Aeros, the offense had its worst game of the young season the very night the pitching staff put together its best outing. LHP Ryan Edell showed great poise in his Eastern League debut, scattering five hits through six scoreless innings. He worked around a leadoff double in the second and also avoided trouble in the fourth by stranding runners at first and second. Reliever T.J. Burton tossed a scoreless seventh before fellow Canadian Emmanuel Garcia singled home the game's lone run in the bottom of the eighth, saddling Burton with his second loss in as many appearances. Jeff Stevens was also impressive, retiring the only two batters he faced while also stranding two inherited runners. Stevens has inherited five runners in his two relief outings this year, and has stranded all five. Last year Stevens stranded 10 of 17 inherited runners between Kinston and Akron.

Crowe Hop...Opening Day LF Trevor Crowe has been missing from the lineup for the last two days because of back tightness according to Aeros manager Mike Sarbaugh. Crowe, a first-round pick out of the University of Arizona in 2005, was just 1-7 in his first two contests but carried an on-base percentage of .400 thanks to three walks. He appeared in 133 games with the Aeros last season, hitting .259 with five home runs and 50 RBI while leading the team with 29 stolen bases. He is currently considered day-to-day.

Did You Know Part 1...Last night's game marked Akron's first 1-0 loss since July 8th, 2005 against Erie.

Did You Know Part 2...C Armando Camacaro's grand slam Sunday afternoon was the 55th in Aeros franchise history (dating to 1989 when the franchise moved to Canton), and his first in purple and silver. The Aeros have hit at least one grand slam every year with the exception of 1994 when Ted Kubiak's squad was shut out in that department, despite a lineup that featured Tony Mitchell (25 home runs), Clyde "Pork Chop" Pough (20 home runs), and Marc Marini (17 home runs).
