HARRISBURG STORMS BACK FOR 9-8 WIN OVER TRENTON ON WEDNESDAY

(Harrisburg, PA)- Harrisburg rallied with five runs in the 5th inning and held off Trenton for a 9-8 victory at Commerce Bank Park in Harrisburg, PA on Wednesday night. Trenton CF Austin Jackson saw his streak of four consecutive games with a home run come to an end.
Down 6-2 in the 5th inning, Harrisburg (38-31) scored five runs to take the lead. C Devin Ivany led off the inning with a double and SS Seth Bynum walked to put runners at first and second base with nobody out. CF Roger Bernadina followed with a sacrifice bunt. Thunder starting pitcher Jason Jones fielded the bunt and tried to go to third base for the lead force out. But, his throw went past Thunder 3B Chris Malec and down the third base line. The throwing error allowed two runs to score and moved Bernadina to third base. Bernadina scored on an RBI groundout by 2B Marco Yepez to make it 6-5. With two outs, 1B Luis Jiminez walked and would score the tying run on an RBI double by DH Luke Montz. Montz scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by RF Andrew LeFave. Harrisburg tacked on two insurance runs in the 6th inning on an RBI double by Bernadina and an RBI single by LF Mike Daniel.
Jones (8-3) took the loss as he went 4.2 IP and gave up 6 H and 7 R (3 earned). He struck out 4 and walked 4. Down 9-6, Trenton (43-27) rallied with single runs in the 8th and 9th innings to cut the lead to 9-8. 2B Reegie Corona had an RBI single in the 8th inning, and 1B Cody Ehlers connected on an RBI single in the 9th. But, Harrisburg reliever Zech Zinicola retired Thunder RF Jose Tabata on a fly out for the final out of the game with the tying run at third base. Zinicola picked up his 6th save of the season for Harrisburg. Harrisburg starting pitcher Bobby Brownlie (5-0) notched the win as he gave up 7 H and 6 R (5 ER).
The Thunder took a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning. With the bases loaded and nobody out, P.J. Pilittere hit a ground ball to Yepez at second. He commited a throwing error allowing two runs to score. Later in the frame, Corona had an RBI ground out to make it 3-0. In the 3rd inning, Tabata picked up his 2nd home run of the season, a two-run shot, which extended the lead to 5-0. Tabata scored three runs in the loss. SS Ramiro Pena hit a solo home run in the 4th inning for his 2nd home run of the season.
Trenton and Harrisburg will play the rubber game of the three-game series tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. LHP Phil Coke (4-2, 3.03) will start for Trenton against Harrisburg RHP Jordan Zimmerman (1-1, 3.44).
