Trenton Thunder News Release

Trenton, NJ - Two runs in the seventh inning supported strong pitching performances in a 2-1 Thunder win over New Hampshire on Wednesday night. Adam Warren, J.B. Cox and Ryan Pope combined to hold New Hampshire to just one run on three hits to avoid the series sweep.

The Thunder (77-53) took a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning with base hits from Austin Krum and Daniel Brewer. An error from RF Adam Loewen allowed the runners to move to second and third with Austin Romine grounding in a run home to tie the game. Corban Joseph followed with an RBI single to rightfield to score the eventual winning run.

Darin Mastroianni doubled to begin the game off RHP Adam Warren and scored his league-leading 95th run of the season on a wild pitch for an early 1-0 New Hampshire lead. Warren tossed six innings and allowed one run on three hits in the no decision. Warren was relieved by J.B. Cox to start the seventh inning.

Trailing 1-0, Cox ( 3-0) tossed two scoreless innings to earn the win as Trenton picked up the two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ryan Pope pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 15th save of the season.

Randy Boone (4-9) tossed his second consecutive complete game in the loss. Boone went eight innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts. The Wednesday contest was the final meeting of the regular season against New Hampshire and despite the win, Trenton finishes with a paltry 7-16 record against the Fisher Cats.
