Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators scored five runs in the first three innings, and went on to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 on Wednesday night at Metro Bank Park. The win gave them a two games to one series victory, and put them another step closer to a possible playoff berth in the Eastern League. The Senators (69-60) have a 1.5-game lead over the Bowie Baysox, who are 68-62.

Brad Peacock (2-1) earned the win on Wednesday for the Sens, as he allowed just one unearned run in five and two-thirds innings as the starter. Jeremy Kehrt (2-11) gave up the five runs in six innings, and took the loss for Portland, which is now 61-68. Cole Kimball picked up his ninth save by recording the final two outs.

Stephen Lombardozzi was the offensive star for the Senators, finishing just a single short of the cycle. He went three-for-four with a home run, a triple, a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Marvin Lowrance also recorded multiple hits for the Senators, going two-for-four with an RBI. Josh Johnson, Jesus Valdez, Chris Marrero, Michael Burgess, Tim Pahuta and Devin Ivany each had a hit in the victory.

Lombardozzi's triple came in the first at-bat for the Senators, and he scored one batter later, on Johnson's sacrifice fly. Later in the first, Burgess hit the second triple of the inning, driving in Marrero in the process. Lombardozzi then led off the third inning with his first AA home run, and watched Johnson and Valdez single in succession directly thereafter. Lowrance drove in Johnson with a single, and then Valdez scored on Pahuta's RBI double. That was all the scoring the Senators got, and all they needed.

Fresh off the series victory, the Senators are set to begin their final home regular season series of the year, a four-gamer against league-leading Trenton. The Thunder (78-53) comes to town starting Thursday night, and will send RHP Cory Arbiso (5-2, 3.42) to the mound against RHP Ryan Tatusko (1-1, 2.70) of the Sens. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM, and fans can hear radio coverage beginning at 6:45. All Senators games are broadcast on 1460 AM The Ticket, and online at www.senatorsbaseball.com.
