August 18, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Eddie Morlan picked up his first home win of the season as the Snappers knocked off the Clinton LumberKings 5-3 Friday night at Pohlman Field. Morlan pitched five innings, giving up five hits, no runs, one walk, and six strikeouts. Newcomer David Leatherman came in with one out in the eighth and shut the door on Clinton. He secured his third save of the season as a Snapper.
The Snappers drew first blood when Matthew Betsill scored on Edward Ovalle's single, thanks to an error by Clinton's right-fielder. Beloit increased the lead in the second when Eli Tintor reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a wild-pitch, and scored on a Juan Portes single to center.
The Snappers sealed the win by scoring three runs in the fifth. Jose Leger singled and was sacrificed to second. Tarrence Patterson then singled and Toby Gardenhire was walked, loading the bases. Betsill followed by ripping a single to left, scoring Leger and Patterson. Dwayne White's sacrifice fly sealed the victory for the Snappers.
Tarrence Patterson led the Snappers offensive attack with three hits. Edward Ovalle and White had two hits as well.
