August 18, 2006 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The Tour for the Cure, a baseball road trip designed to raise funds for cancer research, will make a stop at John O'Donnell Stadium on Saturday, the Swing of the Quad Cities announced Friday.
Cass Sapir is in the midst of a trip that will visit 180 ballparks in 188 days, collaborating with the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in an effort to further cancer research. The self-described "ultimate baseball road trip" began in Arlington, Texas, on April 4, and will wind down at Fenway Park in Boston on September 8.
Along the way, Sapir has been raffling off baseball jerseys at each stop in an effort to raise money for cancer research. He will do the same on Saturday while watching Quad Cities continue their battle for first place.
Sapir will visit the Chicago Cubs and Beloit Snappers on Friday before heading to Davenport. After watching the Swing host the Burlington Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night, he will attend 28 more games over the final 20 days of his trip.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: The quick two-game series with Burlington will be loaded with promotions, as David Eckstein bobblehead dolls (Schommer Dental, Mediacom, Fox 18, Q106.5, The Dispatch/Argus/Leader) will be given away to the first 800 fans in the park on Friday, which will also be Boy Scout Night.
