Reno Aces News Release
Reno, NEV. - The Aces were victorious on Monday night against the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Reno's 6-5 victory came courtesy of 15 hits. Rey Fuentes led the Aces offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, a home run and three RBI. Starting pitcher Alex Young went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and struck out six Dodger batters. The win moves the Aces to a record of 59-55 on the season, 6.0 games back of first place Fresno.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the top of the first inning in today's ballgame from a pair of RBI doubles from Donovan Solano and Kyle Farmer to give the Dodgers the 3-0 lead. After a rough first inning, Alex Young found his groove and pitched five scoreless to keep Reno in the ballgame. The Aces bats came alive in the bottom of the seventh inning when Kevin Cron and Rey Fuentes hit back-to-back homers. Later in the inning, Anthony Recker hit his 13th home run of the season to give Reno the 4-3 advantage. Oklahoma City answered right back in the eighth inning to knot the contest up at four. Reno put the pressure on the Dodgers in the bottom of the eighth inning when they loaded the bases. Fuentes hit a single to shallow center field to score Socrates Brito and Chris Owings to give the Aces the 6-4 lead. The Dodgers made things interesting in the top of the ninth when Conner Joe hit a leadoff double and later came around to score, but Silvino Bracho closed the door on any Oklahoma City comeback by tossing a game-ending 5-4-3 double play to give Reno the 6-5 victory.

Notes & Information
C.O.: Chris Owings made his first start of 2018 tonight in the Biggest Little City, where he went 1-for-4 with an RBI single. Owings has played one full season with the Aces (2013) where he went 180-for-546 (.330) with 31 doubles, 12 home runs, eight RBI, and eight triples. His impressive 2013 campaign won him the Pacific Coast League MVP Award as well as Rookie of the Year honors. Owings has played parts of two other seasons with the Aces once in 2014 and in 2016 where he batted .611 (11-for-18) with a double, triple, and home run. Owings will meet with local media tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
One Away from History: Ildemaro Vargas's current hit streak is at 31 games and is tied for the Aces all-time hit streak record held by Jake Elmore (31) set during the 2012 season. During Vargas's streak, he is batting .384 (53-for-138), with 22 runs scored, 11 doubles, and 14 RBI. If Vargas records a hit in tomorrow tonight's game against Oklahoma City, he will rank second all-time in the PCL behind the great Joe DiMaggio who record 61 straight games with a hit during the 1933 season with the San Francisco Seals.
