Today's Game: The Aces (59-55) enter Tuesday night's contest six games back of the first-place Fresno Grizzlies. Greg Gross will send right-hander Taylor Clarke to the mound to square off against Dodgers righty Zach Neal (3-2, 3.44). Clarke comes in with 10 wins and is riding a two-game winning streak. 2013 PCL MVP Chris Owings joined the 2018 Biggest Little ballclub last night. The D-backs veteran has not played in the PCL (excluding rehab) since 2013.

Last Game: The Aces were victorious on Monday night against the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Reno's 6-5 victory came courtesy of 9 hits and three home runs. Rey Fuentes led the Aces offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, a home run and three RBI. Starting pitcher Alex Young went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits and struck out six Dodger batters. The win moves the Aces to a record of 59-55 on the season, 6.0 games back of first place Fresno.

Streaking: Ildemaro Vargas has hit in 31 consecutive games, good for the longest hit streak in the Pacific Coast League and tie for the second longest in the PCL in the last 10 seasons. During the streak, he is batting .375, (53-for-138), with 22 runs scored, 11 doubles, 14 RBI and an OBP of .433. There have only been five players in Aces history with streaks of 20+ games. Jake Elmore (31, 2012), Ildemaro Vargas (31, 2018), Tony Abreu (24, 2011), Chris Owings (23, 2013), and Ketel Marte (22, 2017). In 2017, Ketel Marte went 37-for-98, .378, with nine 2B, three 3B, one HR and 16 RBI from April 29 through May 22.

Bay Area Bombs: On this date in 2007, in front of a very supportive home crowd at AT&T Park, Barry Bonds surpassed Hank Aaron as the all-time home run leader when he connects on a 3-2 pitch for #756 off southpaw Mike Bacsik of the Nationals. During the 10-minute celebration following the historic homer, a surprise video message is played on the scoreboard in which Hammerin' Hank congratulates the Giants' left fielder for breaking the 31-year-old record.

Milestones: Anthony Recker's two-run home run last night gave him 500 career Minor League RBI in his career. The veteran catcher has played 55 games for the Aces this season and is batting .290 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI. Braden Shipley struck out his 198th Triple-A batter in last night's victory. Charles Brewer is the franchise leader with 307. Zach Kroenke is in second with 201 and Braden Shipley sits in third with 198.

Once Friends, Now Foes: When the Aces head to Las Vegas next week they will likely meet former long-time Aces, Zach Borenstein and Jack Reinheimer. Reinheimer played in 311 games in an Aces uniform, third-most all-time. Borenstein appeared in 280 games for the Biggest Little City, one slot behind Reinheimer for fourth-most all-time. Following the away series in Las Vegas, Reno will host division rival Sacramento. Cesar Puello will be in the outfield for the River Cats after signing a Minor League Free Agent contract on August 3rd, 2018. Puello was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on August first following 73 games where he hit .317 with six home runs and 33 RBI.
