August 7, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees had their four game winning streak come to an end on Monday night, as they fell to the Omaha Storm Chasers 5-4 in a game shortened to five innings by rain.

The Bees trailed 1-0 after one inning, but scored three in the second to take the lead. Jared Walsh led off with a single and one out later, he advanced to second on a single by Dustin Ackley. With two out, Bo Way singled in Walsh with the tying run. Ackley scored the go ahead run on a balk and Way came home on an infield single by Luis Rengifo. Omaha took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second on a three run homer by Jack Lopez off of Salt Lake starter Osmer Morales.

Matt Thaiss and Taylor Ward opened the fourth inning with back to back doubles to tie the game at 4-4. Omaha went back in front with a run in the bottom of the fourth off of Bees' relief pitcher Tyler Stevens (1-4), who was charged with the loss. The rain came in the bottom of the fifth with one runner at first and one out to suspend play, but it never let up and the game was called. Ward led the Bees with two hits and one run batted in, as Salt Lake falls three and one-half games behind first place El Paso in the Pacific Southern Division.
