Thrashers Reassign Tomas Pospisil To Albany

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Tomas Pospisil has been reassigned by the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers to Albany from the Chicago Wolves. Albany also announced that they have released left wing Mathieu Roy from his PTO.

Pospisil (pronounced PAHS-pih-sihl), 21, comes to Albany from the Chicago Wolves, where he had two assists and 2 penalty minutes in 31 games played. The Sumperk, Czech Republic native was drafted by Atlanta in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and made his AHL debut with the Wolves on October 6, 2007 at Houston. In 42 career AHL games Pospisil has four points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. He spent a majority of the 2007-08 season in the ECHL with the Gwinnett Gladiators, where he tallied 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) in 54 regular season games and added five points in eight ECHL playoff games.

Roy (pronounced WAH), 22, appeared in one game for the River Rats on March 11th vs. Norfolk and finished the game with no points and a -1 plus-minus rating. The Amos, Quebec native is in his second pro season and has been returned to the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. Roy has played in 58 games for the Everblades; he ranks second on the team in goals (20), third in PIMs (109), fifth in points (41) and seventh in assists (21).

The River Rats continue their four-game home stand on Friday, March 13th as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Times Union Center. Saturday, March 14th the Philadelphia Phantoms are in town for a special 5:00 pm face off with Albany.
