Pirates Announce Clear Day Roster

PORTLAND, ME -The Portland Pirates announced their 2008-2009 Clear Day roster today, which consists of 20 skaters and two goaltenders.

According to AHL by-laws, only the players listed on a team's Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the 2009 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of injury, recall or suspension. Teams may also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after Clear Day, but only once their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

A player in residence can only be used during the remainder of the regular season or the playoffs if a combination of three members of the 22-man roster are injured, recalled or suspended.

The Pirates return to action on Friday, March 13th against the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 7:00 p.m.

The Pirates next home game is Saturday, March 14th when the Portland Pirates make their second and final trip this season to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee to host the Lowell Devils, sponsored by Goodwill. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Colisee, by phone at (207)783-2009 or online at www.thecolisee.com.

All fans are encouraged to bring articles of clothing to the game to donate to Goodwill. Fans that contribute to the clothing drive will receive a free pair of tickets to the Pirates home game on Sunday, April 5th against the Springfield Falcons.

Before the game, from 3-4 p.m. the Pirates will host an hour of the popular Good Sheppard Food Bank Human Sling Shot. This fun and exciting event features fans sitting on an inflatable tube, being sent down the length of the ice into large bowling pins! Fans can participate in the event by donating a canned food item or with a $5 donation to the Good Sheppard Food Bank.
