INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Sometimes, one bounce is all it takes in the game of hockey, and on Thursday night, that bounce went the way of the Wheeling Nailers. Derek Army capitalized off of an Indy Fuel turnover with 10:07 to go in the third period, snapping a 1-1 tie, and lifting the Nailers to a 2-1 victory at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Brian Foster backstopped the win with a 30-save performance.

Early goals have been part of the recipe for success for the Nailers in 2015-16, and at the 1:04 mark of the first period, they got on the board. Riley Brace battled a puck to Zack Torquato, who set up Matt Tabrum for an opportunity in the slot. Tabrum let a wrist shot go, ripping it over Shane Owen's glove for his first professional goal in his first career game. Indy tied the score with 2:06 left in the stanza, connecting on its third power play of the evening. Ben Marshall's left point shot was stopped, but Rhett Bly pounced on the rebound, sliding it in on the left side of the crease.

The clash stayed tied all the way until the 9:53 mark of the third period, when Wheeling regained the lead. Cody Wydo forced a turnover on the right side of the offensive zone. Wydo handed a pass to Derek Army, who roofed a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle. The Nailers' defense tightened up as the game went along, finishing with eight shots against in the final frame, as they held off the Fuel for the 2-1 triumph.

Brian Foster was stellar in goal for Wheeling, earning the win by stopping 30 of 31 shots. Shane Owen was nearly as good for Indy, but he was saddled with the loss, making 29 saves on 31 shots.

The Nailers will begin a home-and-home series in Toledo on Friday night at 7:15, before returning to WesBanco Arena on Saturday night at 7:35 against the Walleye on Old Time Hockey Night. Fans are invited to meet the Hanson Brothers from the movie "Slap Shot," the first 2,000 spectators through the gates will receive a team card set from Play it Again Sports and Cipco Solutions, and the entire team will be signing autographs following the game.
