Grizzlies Cruise to 5-0 Win over Aces

December 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - Ryan Walters scored twice and Taran Kozun made 26 saves leading Utah to a 5-0 shutout of the Alaska Aces Wednesday at the Maverik Center.

The game was scoreless through one period, then Walters tipped a left point shot by Corey Fienhage past Aces goaltender Steven Summerhays to make it 1-0 Utah (12-7-2-0) at the 7:07 mark and that's how the second period ended.

Things unraveled for Alaska (8-13-1-2) in the third period. Roberts Lipsbergs scored at 1:20, Walters added his second, a short-handed goal at 10:51, Charles Sarault scored at 13:34 and Alex Krushelnyski found the back of the net at 18:32 to complete the scoring.

Alaska's missed opportunities and porous defense ended up costing them the game.

Both teams though were excellent on the penalty kill...Alaska 6-6 and Utah 4-4.

Kozun won his second game of the season for the Grizzlies with the 26 save shutout. Summerhays finished with 28 saves for Alaska.

The Aces and Utah will play Friday and Saturday at 5:05 Alaska time at the Maverik Center in West Valley City.

Get your Aces vs Rapid City tickets by stopping by the Aces ticket office Monday through Friday 9-noon at 15th and Gambell, or go online at www.alaskaaces.com. The Aces and Rush play Friday-Sunday December 18-20 at the Sullivan Arena.
