Indy Fuel News Release

The Indy Fuel set a franchise record with a power play goal in its fifth consecutive contest, but the Wheeling Nailers skated out with a 2-1 win at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Thursday night.

Wheeling (12-9-1-1) got on the board first when rookie Matt Tabrum scored his first pro goal on his first pro shift and first pro shot just 1:04 into the game.

Indy (9-11-2-0) responded with a power play goal from Rhett Bly, who pushed the puck past Nailers goaltender Brian Foster (30 saves) after Ben Marshall's initial shot from the point popped up in the air and over Foster's right pad. With that goal Indy now has a power play marker in five straight games for the first time in franchise history and are 5-for-23 (21.7%) over that stretch.

The game moved into the third period still knotted at 1-1 when Derek Army scored the eventual game-winning goal at 9:53 after stealing the puck deep in the Fuel zone and beating Shane Owen (29 saves).

The Fuel begin a home-and-home with the Fort Wayne Komets on the road tomorrow night at 8 pm before returning home Saturday night for Teddy Bear Toss Night at 7:35 pm. The Morellis Cleaners Pre-game Show starts 15 minutes before every puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
