Third Inning Rally Propels Cutters Past West Virginia

The Williamsport Crosscutters won their fifth consecutive game to start the 2015 season 3-1 against the West Virginia Black Bears. The Crosscutters rallied in the bottom of the third inning, scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead after the Black Bears scored a run in the top half of the inning.

The Black Bears would get onto the scoreboard first after a bases loaded walk to Daniel Arribas scored Ty Moore from third base. For the first time this season the Cutters would have to turn to their bullpen early on as Luis Morales lasted just three innings allowing one run on three hits. Morales walked a Cutters season high five batters while striking out one. Lewis Alezones picked up his first win of the season tossing two scoreless innings and striking out three batters.

Brendon Hayden finished the night 2 for 3 with a run scored. Jan Hernandez went 1 for 4 on the night with a RBI double in the sixth inning. Carlos Duran had his first two hit game of the season going 2 for 4. Rob Tasin earned his first save of the season striking out three of the five batters that he faced between the eighth and ninth innings.
