Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY (6/23/15)- The Hudson Valley were paced by left fielder Jose Paez's three hit, three RBI night as the Renegades defeated the Lowell Spinners 6-3 on Tuesday evening at Dutchess Stadium.

The 'Gades jumped out for three runs in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead. After Lowell's starting pitcher Dioscar Romero (0-1) retired the first two batters, five straight batters reached base safely with the big hits coming on a Paez two-run single and an RBI single from first baseman Nic Wilson.

Lowell and Hudson Valley traded runs in the third inning as the Spinners right fielder Jordan Austin tripled and scored on an RBI ground out by designated hitter Jemile Weeks. The Renegades responded with another RBi single from Paez to bring the score to 4-1. Lowell closed the score to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning when Weeks singled home a pair of runs. That hit ended Hudson Valley's starting pitcher Angel Yepez's night, as he tossed four and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits.

But Hudson Valley's relief pitcher Brad Wallace (1-0) came in and was strong on the mound, throwing three and two thirds innings of hitless baseball and struck out three batters. The 'Gades scored a run in the sixth and the seventh inning to put the game away, with Paez scoring on a passed ball in bottom of the sixth and Montes had an RBI walk in the seventh.

Romero took the loss for Lowell after two-third innings on the mound. Justin McCalvin picked up the save for the Renegades as he pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.

Notes: Paez's three hits was the second time this season that a Renegades hitter picked up three hits on the night. Also with the win, Tim Parenton picked up his 50th regular season win in his Hudson Valley managerial career after leading the Renegades to 46 wins in 2014.

The Renegades conclude their three-game series against Lowell on Wednesday, June 24th with first pitch at 6:35pm. Wednesday is "Scouting Jurassic Times" Night presented by Erie Insurance. It's Boy & Girl Scout Night at Dutchess Stadium on Wednesday night and special group ticket packages are available for all scouting groups.
