The Pigs and PawSox continue with their third game of the set at Coca-Cola Park tonight at 6:35 p.m.
PITCHING MATCHUP Drew Anderson makes his seventh start of the season for the Pigs against right-hander William Cuevas for Pawtucket. Today's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.
Drew Anderson is 2-2 on the season with a 5.00 ERA since returning from the disabled list May 15. Anderson has made one start against the PawSox this season; he pitched four innings and allowed four hits and two earned runs while striking out five. Williams Cuevas is 4-3 on the year in 12 starts with the PawSox. Cuevas has faced the Pigs once this season and picked up the win in seven scoreless innings of work at Coca-Cola Park.
LAST GAME Cole Irvin gave the Pigs another seven strong innings of work but left the ball game trailing 2-1. Irvin struck out seven and allowed six hits while walking one. The PawSox tagged Irvin for two runs, one earned in the top of the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. The two-run home run by Castillo was the only runs that the PawSox would need in the victory. Coming into the game, Irvin had won seven straight decisions which was one shy of an IronPigs record for consecutive wins.
The Pigs lone offense came in the bottom of the first inning when they took a 1-0 lead. After the first two batters of the inning reached, Mitch Walding chased home Collin Cowgill to put Lehigh Valley up 1-0. The offense was held quiet after the first inning against PawSox pitching. The Pigs were limited to just three baserunners after the first inning and just two hits. Pawtucket pitching retired the final 16 Pigs of the game to hold the win for PawSox. HEAD-TO-HEAD The Pigs are 8-4 against the PawSox this season. This is the final trip the PawSox will make to Coca-Cola Park in 2018. The Pigs are 4-1 against Pawtucket this season at home. This is the first time since 2013 that the Pigs will have a winning record at home against the PawSox since 2013.
The Pigs will make one more trip to Pawtucket August 28-30. The Pigs finish out the regular season on the road with a seven-game road trip including three games in Rhode Island.
